Xion: Jaen, I don’t want to play hide and seek anymore. This game is getting boring. Jaen (from a distance): That’s only because you can never find me. Xion (Walking in the direction of Jaen): You’re not funny… I hear you upstairs. Here I come! 1.2Narrator: Xion runs up the stairs into his parent’s room. Jaen: … Xion: What’s wrong? Cat got your tongue? Jaen: (giggles) Narrator: Xion approaches the closet door. Xion: I know you’re in there. Just come out now. Narrator: Indistinctive shuffling comes from within the closet. Then three loud bangs hit the inside of the closet door. Xion falls to the ground in fear. 1.3Xion (fearful): If you think that’s funny then guess again. I’ll make you pay for that! Narrator: Xion gets up swiftly and flings the closet door open. Xion (baffled thoughts): I could’ve sworn she was in there, that doesn’t make sense. Xion (yelling at the closet): Come on Jaen, this isn’t funny anymore. I don’t want to play this stupid game. Narrator: *Knocking coming from the front door* Xion: Fine. Play by yourself. Xion (yelling towards the front door): One second, I’ll be right down! 1.4Narrator: Xion walks down the stairs slowly. Narrator: *Knocking coming from the front door* Xion (while opening the door): I said I was comi--- Jaen: (Pause) What’s wrong with your face? I guess someone is happy to see me! Xion (scared): How are you here! I thought you were upstairs! Narrator: Xion pushes Jaen out of the way and shuts the door behind him! 1.5Jaen: What’s wrong with you? Why did you push me like that? You know, you need to have better manners! Xion (terrified): Where were you a few minutes ago? Jaen: Is something wrong with your head or something silly? You and I were just at my house playing hide and seek. You told me you wanted to grab something to eat from your house real quick but you never came back so I came here. Xion: That isn’t possible! I was just in my house playing hide and seek with you… You were hiding upstairs in my parent’s bedroom closet and you banged on the closet door right before I opened it! Jaen: I told you about making up stories, Xion. If you’re going to tell a fake story, the least you could do is be a good actor. Xion: I’m not making this up! I swear! Jaen: That’s it, I’m going home until you decide to stop acting like a little kid. Xion: Wait wait wait! If I wasn’t playing hide and seek with you then who was I playing with just now? (pause) You too! I’ve been here playing hide and seek with you for the last 15 minutes or so… I couldn’t find you! Jaen: Well duh, you couldn’t find me. I wasn’t here and you weren’t either. Stop making silly stuff up! Xion: Come with me and let’s search the house together! I am scared to go back there alone. Jaen: Fine, let’s check the house ya big baby… and you owe me a snowball. With three flavors and gummy worms! Deal? Xion: Fine. Deal! Now can we just check the house already? You’re going in first! 1.6Narrator: Jaen enters the house and walks into the living room. Jaen: Helllloooo! Anybody here! We know you’re hiding from us so just come out already. Narrator: A heavy thump comes from upstairs as if something fell. Xion: Hey! Who’s up there! I have a knife! Narrator: Xion runs to the kitchen and grabs a small knife. Xion and Jaen walk to the base of the staircase. Jaen: Well, don’t be afraid now. Ladies first. Xion: I’m not a lady! Now shut up, this is serious! Jaen: Okay okay! Whatever you say, your majesty. 1.7Narrator: Xion and Jaen walk up the stairs and enter Xion’s parent’s room. Xion: If there is someone hiding in the closet, come out now! I have a sharp weapon! Jaen (pushes Xion): Just hurry up and open the door already! You’re making me worried. Xion: Alright, I’ll open it. 1.8Narrator: Xion reaches for the door handle, but right before he grabs it… Entity 1: Mommy? Daddy? Is that you? Don’t open the door! Something is in here and it wants you to open the-- *Screams* Narrator: Xion opens the door only to find an empty closet. Entity 1: It’s coming for me! Whatever you do, don’t enter the closet under any circumstance. Xion: Who are you, why can’t I see you? 1.9Narrator: The entity gave no response. Xion and Jaen were staring at the closet when they both suddenly felt a chill down their spines. Entity 1: Don’t move. It can’t see or smell in this dimension, but it can feel motion of any kind and hear you. Just wait for it to leave. Narrator: There was nothing but silence for a few seconds, not even the sound of their breath was noticeable. Almost as if nothing ever existed in that room. Jaen (whispers): Is it gone yet? Monster 1: RAHHHHHHH! 1.10Narrator: Xion and Jaen Scream at the top of their lungs. The monster picks jaen up and throws her into the closet, but right before she hits the wall she suddenly disappears. Xion: Jaen! Narrator: Xion runs head first into the closet after Jaen and shuts the door behind him before the monster could come in. Chapter 2: The Dark WorldEntity 1: The dimensional gap has closed, but that was the only entry from this world to your world. The only way out is to find another gap in the dimension. But at least that monster isn’t here. Jaen: Are you saying we can’t go back home! Xion: It’s not like you want to go back there with that.. thing anyways. Jaen: You’re such an idiot Xion! We are stuck in some place that might not even be on Earth and we can’t call anyone for help. How are we supposed to survive? What if there is no food or water? What if that thing finds us! If anything we came to the one place we should not have and on top of all of that, it's too dark in here… I can’t see a thing. Entity 1: Don’t panic, you’ll be fine. In this world, there are nutrients and vitamins in the air that should provide you with enough substances in your body for a while. You shouldn't have to worry about eating or sleeping. Xion: That’s a relief. Jaen: Who even are you! And why did you decide to help us? For all we know, you could be lying about everything! Entity 1: I know it may seem confusing to you, but I am not allowed to reveal my identity to humans. If I reveal my identity and the Obelisk finds out, I’ll be erased from this existence. Jaen: Who is the Obelisk? And what do you mean erased from existence? Are they some sort of god or something? Nothing you are saying makes any sense to me whatsoever. Michelle: You know I tell you this everytime we come here that these flowers make my allergies act up. Jak: Yes, yes, I know. But how could I resist this beautiful sight in front of me and not share it with you. Michelle: Well, you are right about that. The view here is nice. I just wish we could spend more time like this together. Jak: We will be together forever. Always remember that. . . . 3.2Entity 1: In this world, humans are considered lowly-beings that cling to anything for the sake of survival of their species, yet they slowly destroy themselves throughout their life out of greed. Our job is to monitor your world and maintain the balance of impurities that your kind reeks on to the Earth. Entity 1: I guess this can’t be helped if it will make you feel better. However, if you encounter anyone or anything else here, do not reveal my identity to them. Entity 1: I am Javaan, the Sentinel Abaddon. Xion: I’m Xion. Jaen: I’m Jaen. Javaan: I am aware of who you both are. Let’s just say, I look over you in life. Xion: That sounds creepy. Jaen: Yeah no kidding. And what kind of name is Javaan, the Sentinel Abaddon. Xion: Doesn’t abaddon mean destroyer? Javaan: We don’t have time to get into the specifics. We need to move to a safer location so that the monster doesn’t find us. Jaen: She’s right, let's get going. 2.3Narrator: The three of them venture through the dark passageways close at hand when they suddenly reach a room with light. Xion: This can’t be… There is no way that we should be here! Jaen: Oh my god… Narrator: Xion and Jaen, fearful of what they see and with despair in their eyes, gaze at the fiery abyss in front of them. They try to look away, but they seem to be frozen staring at the bright red flames that capture their gaze. Xion (crying): I am so sorry, I never wanted it to come to this. That day it all happened, I wanted to save you, but I couldn’t.. I just couldn’t. I was scared and I didn’t know what to do… Jaen (crying): There is no way that you are here… I wanted to take you with me but I couldn’t. I had to get out of there. The building was collapsing and I didn’t have time to go back and save you… Xion & Jaen (Yelling): Please forgive me, I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry (continues to say it in the background). 2.4Javaan (subconsciously): Everything is going according to plan. Their bodies are slowly rotting away from the air and now their minds have been corrupted with false memories of their loved ones dying because they’ve abandoned them. Javaan: You poor kids. You seem as though you are suffering, let me help you ease the pain. You wouldn't want to fall into the fire now would you? I can make all the bad things go away. Just trust me. Narrator: Javaan’s mouth opens wide seamlessly from her jaw. Her once child-like complexion faded into the air and has now become the face of a demon. Her sharp teeth and long hair grew. Her hands vasculated. Xion and Jaen fell to the floor and their vision faded. Chapter 3: Goodbye, Old Friend...Narrator: Jaen wakes up in a panic, gasping for air. She looks around the room that appears to be lit by a dark green light. She sees Xion lying on the floor and rushes over to him. Jaen: Xion. Xion! Are you okay? Wake up. Wake up! Xion (awaking): What's going on? Where are we? Jaen: I don’t know where we are. I don’t know how we got here either. I can’t remember what happened before I woke up. Xion: Me either. My mind is blank. Jaen: When isn’t your mind blank! Xion: Not the best time for jokes right now, Jaen. We need to figure out how to get out of here. 3.3Narrator: The two of them search around the room searching for anything that they can find to help them escape. Xion: Jaen look! Up there! It’s a vent. Jaen: Yeah but… how are we supposed to reach the vent? Xion: Maybe you can stand on my shoulders? Jaen: Is that the best you can think of? Xion: It’s the only option we have. What else are we supposed to do? Jaen: Ugh fine. You better not drop me. Xion: Just hurry up and get on already… 3.4Narrator: Jaen climbs on Xion’s back and then onto his shoulders, barely balancing herself trying to reach the vent. Xion: Can you reach it or not? Jaen: I’m trying! Maybe if you just shut up I could reach the damn thing! Xion: Yeah well just so you know, you're not exactly light as a feather! Narrator: Jaen kicks Xion slightly in the ear. Xion: Hey what was that for! Jaen: Just shut up already Xion! 3.5Narrator: Jaen reaches the vent that was barely hanging on by a screw. She reaches in and climbs through. Jaen: I’ll be right back as soon as I find a way to get you out of there! Xion: Okay just hurry. I’m already terrified half to death. Narrator: Jaen crawls through the endless dark vent hoping to find an exit. She crawls for what seems like eternity. So far she keeps going because it would take even longer to crawl all the way back to the room with Xion. She suddenly remembers the name of a person called Jak, but she can’t remember who they are. Tears welled up in her eyes as she kept crawling through the endless dark vent. 3.6Xion: What’s taking her so long… Javaan (echoing): It’s too late for your little friend. She’ll be long gone before she ever finds a way out of there. Xion: Where did that voice come from? Xion(conscience): Oh no, is that Javaan? What if she’s the one that put us in here? There is nowhere for me to hide… Narrator: Javaan appears suddenly behind Xion. Javaan: Why would you hide from me? I’m here to get you out of here. Xion: How can you hear inside my mind! Javaan: What are you talking about? You were speaking out loud just now. I merely responded to you. Xion: No I did not! You can read minds and you kept that secret from us the whole time! Where were you when we were locked away and unconscious this whole time and why can’t me and Jaen remember anything! Javaan: I’m not sure what happened either! I woke up in a cell just like you. Maybe it was the monster! Xion: Yeah you’re right maybe it was the monster. Xion: Javaan I have a question for you. If you aren’t human how did you become unconscious? 3.7Narrator: Javaan goes silent after Xion's question. No emotion passed through her face and there was no light that passed through her eyes. The once guardian angel-like entity was now gone and something new was brought into the room. Xion: Hey! Answer me! You are not human so how is it possible that you can go unconscious! 3.8Narrator: The room goes silent again, only for a moment and then Javaan opens its mouth slowly and sinisterly. Its teeth sharpened like fangs of a vampire and the fangs of a dire werewolf. Its mouth was oozing saliva. Its eyes turned solid black and the veins in its arms turned a hazed dark blue color. Its finger nails fell to the floor and new longer black nails sprung from the nail beds. Xion fell to the floor in fear. He was as pale as a freshly made white wall. Javaan let out a roar whose vibrations shattered the surrounding wall and collapsed the ceiling. The room becomes clouded with dust. Xion frees himself from the debris and starts running away from the room. He ran without looking back for Javaan. He ran as fast as he could. Suddenly, he hears the voice of a woman but can’t remember who it is. The woman says, “Well, you are right about that. The view here is nice. I just wish we could spend more time like this together.” Xion, shocked by the voice, trips and falls to the floor. Javaan let off another viscous roar from its mouth shattering the floor beneath him as he ran. Xion yelled to the top of his lungs as he fell into the dark abyss. He fell and kept falling for what seemed like forever, only having the memory of the womens voice to listen to. Eventually his voice could no longer be heard. The abyss closed and the floor returned to its original position. Javaan gave off a big grin and smiled as it turned away to walk towards what seemed like a portal. A voice of what sounded like two children could be heard before it entered the portal. . . . 3.9???: Do you want to play Hide and Seek, Sho? Javaan: Yes, I would love to play. I’ll hide first! Credits #//The Other Realm// by Tomme Denney If you enjoyed my story, please feel free to check out more of my creations on my portfolio with the link below!
